I don't really think there's anything in this particular shot that's telling a story. Definitely remove the background elements, they're not adding anything. I think you could do something interesting with the repetitive patterns in the way motels are laid out to tell a story but I think this particular angle and lighting is taking away from any potential there. To me this environment is screaming for a more minimalist composition, but that's just my personal taste. I'd maybe try shooting with a longer lens or maybe shooting something straight on.

This is a motel near me that I thought looked cool. I feel the image looks nice but I'm not sure if there is enough here to make it great. The stuff in the background is what it is for now, maybe I will look into removing it and seeing if that ties the image together a bit more. I am also not sure if overcooked. If it is overcooked, is there anything to be said for liking it a bit overdone? I am new to post processing and photography in general, so still working out my style and I tend to like turning up the grain and texture on lightroom.
