Valtrex for reactivation? Helpful? Safe?

Hey guys my doctor prescribed me valtrex as I’ve had EBV symptoms for a year after it reactivated (positive on Early Antigen D). Would valtrex help at all? Not sure if I’m dealing with reactivation still or some after effects or co infection… worth a shot? If my viral load is still indeed high?
