Wine Cellar

I spent a couple of hours with a warm fleece jacket on while sitting in the cellar deleting about 18 consumed bottles out of Cellar Tracker and adding and shelving about 26 bottles that were sitting on the floor. The cellar was tidy so I thought I’d share a few photos. Built into lower level storage area in a project that included the wine room, my art studio, and storage for chairs we use for occasional home concerts. Our builder had some great ideas about installing the WhisperCool cooler and Sears humidifier. He also picked the stone tile on the walls, and custom-built the door and window. The floor is raised and insulated due to in-floor heat in that area. The shelving is custom built to fit 6 magnums and champagne bottles on the top shelf, 9 dessert wines on the bottom shelf, and 7 750ml bottles on the other shelves.
Besides wine, the 54F/60%humidity room is great for other activities like fermenting sauerkraut, curing cuts of meat and salami, aging cheeses, and with the addition of a cart with shelves sized for 1/2 sheet pans and lower shelves, the room can also be used for short term cool storage for cold retarding sourdough bread for a day or so, and keeping pre made appetizers, salads, and desserts for large gatherings. Enjoy! I’d be happy to answer any questions or participate in discussions.
