Child free weddings: what is your “why”?

Hi fellow wedding planners!

We are in the process of figuring out our first pass at our guest list so we can have an idea of headcount so I can then reach out to some venues. I feel like I want to have a child free/age limit wedding, and when my fiance asked why (as he doesn’t really care if children come, but is fine with them not coming), I couldn’t figure out an answer. I truly do not know why I would prefer it. This is especially interesting because we ourselves have two small children (currently 2 and 4.5, will likely be 4 and 6 if we can find a venue/date for fall 2026) who will of course be coming. Our siblings have small children and will have to travel from out of state to attend, so it’s giving me some internal confusion on what exactly to do.

So - has anyone been in this situation (having their own children, but wanting an age limit/otherwise child free wedding)? I would appreciate any guidance/advice here! Thank you!
