Laptops and (PC)VR • Quest 3 + ASUS ROG Strix G16 4080M

Hey, guys!

I own ASUS Strix G16 [G614JZ-N4011] with RTX 4080M 12GB and i7-13650HX, 16GB DDR5 RAM — I’m thinking about getting into VR (finally!) and get a gift for myself.

My main option is Meta Quest 3 (512 GB), because it seems like the best all-rounder, can be used wirelessly, standalone and PCVR, and has great screen and pancake lenses. Moreover, the budget is one of the best among VR headsets.

The second option is PSVR2, but it needs a PC adapter which is very expensive, plus I would need to get a special cable for the adapter itself — so I can connect it to my laptop.

That being said, my question is:

How well would be my PCVR experience with my laptop and Quest 3? I run all games (I’ve played, obviously) on Ultra settings (with DLSS and Frame Generation, of course) without any issues, but it seems like I should lower my expectations for VR games.

Actually, I wonder mostly about Half-Life: Alyx and various VR mods like the one for Cyberpunk 2077 (the game runs on Ultra with path tracing and DLSS Performance + Frame Gen at great FPS (as far as I remember, it’s around 100 FPS, maybe 80 FPS, maybe even more, not sure).

Thanks a lot for the replies!
