Playing this game as someone who boxes is immensely frustrating. For $80, I didn’t pay for a game with potential. I expected a working product.

I’ve been boxing for around 4 years and I am extremely impassioned about the sport of boxing, but I feel like that passion has been taken advantage of.

It’s very common for this game to inspire me to box in real life, by the sole fact I can depend on myself to utilize my body in a vastly more dependable and reliable way than this game, as anatomically and realistically things don’t make sense.

I still play though because I really want this to be a good game, I see the potential, but every time I do I am consistently disappointed.

Judging from the actual mechanics of boxing and punching:

• The Jab: The jab somehow isn’t an effective punch to throw in this game. That mostly comes from the fact hooks and jabs are essentially the same speed and thrown from the same range. “The jab is the most important punch in boxing” does not apply in this game

-Footwork and Offense : It works pretty well honestly, if your an out boxer. Extremely hard to effectively attack when your tethered to the ground and and you punch with the absolute anthesis of intensity and explosivity. This is where punch detection is at its worse (ESPECIALLY, for shorter fighters)

I need faster footwork on the front foot, if it was real life I’d be cutting the ring off at the speed of light like mf, can’t do that in this game.

• Defense: Excruciatingly, leaning back is the only effective form of defense in this game, that fact alone should tell you everything

If i was fighting a guy that leaned back like 90% of players in this game do, I could rush the guy, and drive him off balance. I know it’s a video game😅 but I can’t even effectively take advantage of the body because my player can’t move forward effectively. Also slipping sucks ass and needs improvement.

• Stamina: Why tf do I gas out after 3-4 punch combos lol. It’s like these professional boxers never trained conditioning or cardio before their fight.

-Rocky Marciano: Playing Rocky Marciano is shit because punch detection doesn’t work when trying to go for a taller opponent’s body, again, PUNCH DETECTION SUCKS ASS😭

With all that being said, the developers CAN satisfy people like me who are unhappy with the game.

If they followed suit with how No Man’s Sky handled the negative feedback of their game: Take the verbal ass whooping with some humility (YOU charged us $80 for this crap, it’s deserved), and listen to us, and give us what we want in a timely manner, they would see how fast we’d be praising them for their great work

Potential? 10/10 Actual functioning? 5/10

And if they release one more paid DLC without a substantial update fixing the game, I’m crashing out
