Shameless’ first three seasons are some of the most entertaining I’ve ever seen on TV and yet I dread keep watching.

Before you move forward and read this, be aware of minor spoilers for Shameless and the fact that this post might work as kind of a rant.

I am just one episode away from finishing S3 and up until now the show has been nothing but absolutely flawless for its genre. In less than two weeks I’ve watched over 35 episodes and loved 95% of what I saw.

It is fast-paced, unapologetic, fun, emotional and real.

Honestly I was having so much fun with the show that I didn’t even stop and consider it could start showing cracks and that they would even be so blatant.

I friend of mine had already told me Justin Chatwin's character would leave the show after a few brief appearances in S4 and S5, so I thought I would not care that much but Jimmy Lishman is literally the guy the writers tried to sell as the main character's love interest for three whole seasons. A character so integral to the story and the Gallaghers that you can't really convince me the writers were planning to drop him after a few seasons.

Knowing he leaves really already cheapens the show's first few seasons arcs and potential rewatches.

But here’s the kicker: I was so pissed off about this that I started searching (as usual) if other people and fans thought the same and to my surprise I learned this was just the tip of a very huge ass iceberg.

Apparently, the commonly agreed biggest issue of the show is that lots of fan favorite characters just ride towards the horizon not to be mentioned or heard from ever again.

And while anyone could argue that it is to be expected for some actors to leave after years of playing the same characters on TV, the idea that you can get to a point where you feel comfortable enough with having the main character to just up and leave, and not even coming back for the show's finale is just ludicrous to me.

So now, even though I very well realize I might be acting kind of dramatic about it, I am honestly considering dropping Shameless altogether as soon as I get to the end of S7 (which apparently is one of the best dropping point for the show).

Maybe I overestimated the show but man, I can feel a Game of Thrones-sized rising disappointment growing in my heart.
