Technical Writers at Amazon (Welcome Me to the Jungle)
I recently have been tendered an offer to work at Amazon as a technical writer. The compensation package came in and it looks excellent. The base pay is quite a bit lower than expected as was the 401K match, but the bonus along with RSU's made the offer well in line with what I had wanted.
With that said, I wanted to gauge current and former Amazon technical writers on their experience. What did you like, what you didn't like, etc. From my 6-7 hours worth of interviews, everybody just seemed to love it there.
For reference, I have been a technical writer for 16-17 years with 10 of those working at a major aerospace company (we are on the news a lot these days). There was a time where I thought I would retire here as aviation is a great passion of mine to the point of me getting a Master's in Aerospace Engineering. Things change though, so wanted to get people's views.
