A book without a villain

This is for my mother. She would like to read a a book without a villain, antagonist, etc. She likes reading historical (fictional or non) fantasy books, non-fiction factual books that are informative. She once read a book about the origin of salt.

She just read A Passionate Life about Alma Mahler and is feeling salty.
