CR920 not engaging with follower.

Has anybody ever experienced this problem before? The slide release on my CR920 does not like to properly engage with the magazine follower on an empty mag. If I try to lock the slide back and change magazines, the slide release will not touch the follower at all and just move right past it. HELP????
