Does it really matter if the left distances itself from identity politics at this point?
Slotkin's grooming for 2028 has got me to thinking. We're firmly entrenched in vibes-based politics and Democrats for the foreseeable future are the party of poly hijabi amputees. They can shift to positions like "we shouldn't put trans people in death camps" or "we can reform immigration without destroying families", or even abandon those platforms altogether, but so long as conservative commentators can single out e.g. kindergarten teachers talking about systemic racism (no matter how isolated the case) or college students defending Hamas, they control the zeitgeist.
I don't think that means the left ("""left""") shouldn't focus on economic issues instead of niche social justice crusades, but idpol is a working class/dinner table issue now, and dems will always be guilty by association. The best they can hope for is the economy to tank so bad conservatives fall out of favor. If even that.
Sorry for sincereposting. I'm gay.
