US withdrawal from Afghanistan
Saw a comment on here recently about how America hasn't had it's Suez Crisis moment yet. Got me thinking about how 4 years ago the US withdrew from Afghanistan, with a 20 year long occupation and nation building project ending with sad scenes of people hanging of the sides of planes and the US backed government collapsing overnight. Since then it feels like whole episode has been collectively suppressed. Did the end of the war in Afghanistan leave a mark on the western popular consciousness at all?
