Serious drought of "leading man" actors in the future and forced nerdification of the male actor.

De Niro, Pitt, Cruise, etc. these are my examples of "lead male roles." I'm not saying there aren't good male actors right now, but there is very little in the way of real leading men on the horizon. Actors like Robert Pattinson have range and potential for more and I'm sure there are others, but I'm talking about a drought not a deficit.

I had this thought when I saw two previews with Jack Quaid in it, he was a decent nerdy twink type in the boys, but he's poorly suited for these new films ("nerdy" action hero, "nerdy" misandrist CEO, etc). Am I wrong? Discuss
