Friend’s family got a $600k hospital bill for their daughter’s aplastic anemia treatment

My friend just came crying to me that her low income family just got hit with a $600k bill from her sister’s treatment in TX. Their insurance (CIGNA PPO?) apparently covered $400k already. So fing horrible.

I understand we should ask for itemized bills, try to haggle for the lowest paying price, and reach out to social workers/financial aid in the hospital. Is there anything else we can do??
