Naming Trump takes the GOP off the hook...

I'm broadly a huge fan of MSNBC, though of late I've stopped following Morning Joe. I got here by following Rachel back in the Air America days and have enjoyed finding a source for news that seems to care about honesty and accuracy in journalism.

Hearing the news, and MSNBC specifically, cover Trump can be frustrating, but it struck me this morning that the more you focus on Trump by name, the more you allow the GOP to put distance between the party and the misdeeds of the current administration.

Words matter.

When you hear that ___ did some ghastly thing, like pardoning people that assaulted DC police officers, or ran a huge illegal online drug marketplace, it matters an awful lot what is used for ___.

It's easy to use "Trump" but he is the leader of the Republican party and has been for a long time. The leader of the Republican party pardoned hundreds of people who assaulted police and a man who (if I remember correctly) ran a huge illegal online drug marketplace. Force the issue. Tie the author of these comically bad actions and policies to his political party. Please. Words matter.
