Miraculous needed them redesigns
Obviously the reboot happened for multiple reasons, but my problem with the show was the power creep of the character designs (in the sense the later the characters were introduced the more seperate they look from the original style.
Like, Juleka and Luka were the first signs of this (although them being twins was a later retcon) but with Chloé and Zoé; side by side it’s clear Chloé has a cartoonishly rounder head compared to her sister. And then there’s characters like the Didier that look ridiculously realistic compared to everyone else. Character designs in the Shanghai special, Socqueline, Harry Clown, Su-Han, etc. etc.
What I’m saying is this show needed a excuse to update their old designs to match their newer ones.
