Chronic eye strain and tension headaches for 2 years?
Hi all,
I (21M) am finally addressing my worsening tension headaches that I've been experiencing the last 2-3 years. I experience them every day all day, though after a couple hours of avoiding screens they are noticeably better. Symptoms include dull frontal pain, a light 'dazed' feeling, sensitive eyes, fatigue, etc.
I sleep 8 - 8.5 hours every night, though it usually takes me an hour to fall asleep and I wake up in the middle night, so I wonder if this extra time in bed is (partially) responsible. I also use blue light glasses all day and have an exceptionally healthy diet. I take magnesium, zinc, and fish oil regularly. I exercise an average of 30-40 minutes a day and drink a gallon of water a day. My posture isn't superb but I try not to hunch over my computer/phone.
That said, my daily screen time is between 10-12 hours, and I can't help this. I avoid screens first thing in the morning when my eyes are especially sensitive. But even after 5 minutes of checking my phone an hour after getting up, the headache/eye strain intensifies.
Any ideas? I have an optometrist appointment planned and my GP wants me to see a neurologist.
