Did Afia...?

The movie leaves this very ambiguous but do you think Afia lived long enough to see her grandson be born, at most to see him grow up to the age where he is "killed" in the stampede?

On one hand, lots of wholesome/angst potential. Afia reuniting with her son and being a part of his life/family again only to see that ripped away from her a second time, and for that to be permanent.

On the other hand, the 2019 remake, with the retroactive story of M:TLK implies that Simba did not know much about Mufasa's story or childhood. From Scar's lie about the gorge, to him being completely removed from the whole love triangle, and just with how nothing indicates he knows about his dad's past. His grandmother being in the mix would likely raise questions such as "What was Queen being like?" ect. Unless Mufasa and Afia agreed not to let Simba know the truth until he was older.

The fact that Kiara also doesn't know Mufasa's story would suggest that Afia is definitely not around, R.I.P.

I definitely think she lived long enough to see Simba grow into a cub, but didn't live long enough to see him return to the Pride Lands (oh god what if she died of heartbreak after learning the news of the stampede)
