Are biological parents notified in cases of adult adoption too?

I'm looking to get adopted by my step father in British Columbia. Adult adoption is only allowed under certain conditions, and we meet the requirements.

I understand that biological parents are notified when children are adopted. Is this the case for adults as well? My biological father is dangerous (I have a restraining order against him) and we have been lucky to not have him bother us for over ten years. Additionally, we aren't even sure where in the country he is. If it's the same policy, is there an option to not notify him?
