Class 7 test failure

Today I did my class 7 test, and unfortunately I failed. However, the reasons for why I failed seemed quite ridiculous especially after doing my research on this reddit and hearing my friends fail stories. First of all, my instructor was grilling me because apparently I shoulder checked too much. From what I hear, you're supposed to shoulder check at basically everything. Swerving through residential neighborhoods, turns, lane switching, parking, etc, I shoulder checked for all of that. However, when I shoulder checked while moving and taking turns, my instructor explained that this is dangerous and not the correct procedure. Which is fair enough, because your eyes aren't on the road ahead of you , but it was contradictory to the research I did, which explains that you must shoulder check at every turn no matter what. As such, I drove according to this information, and at every turn, regardless of if I was stopped or not, I would shoulder check. My instructor explained that while you're on the move, you already see what's there, so there's no reason you need to shoulder check.

The second reason for why I failed was because I was being too cautious. Again, from the research I've done, and things I've heard from friends, I didn't believe it was a bad thing to be more cautious than usual during your test. As a result, during many of my turns, I would wait for a very safe gap, staying idle and scanning the cars oncoming, and take a turn only when it was completely safe. Which if I'm going to be honest, I would wait for a good while at a time, but I didn't think it would be an issue because I was trying to be as safe as I possibly could during my test. Again, my instructor spoke to me about this, saying that I was being too cautious, and that this could be dangerous.

The third reason, which this one I can understand, is that I turned left onto an intersection while it was red. But I have my reason for this, which is again tied to the fact I was being cautious. I creeped up onto the intersection, waiting for the line of cars to stop coming so I could take my turn. Until, the light turned yellow, and then red. Because I wanted to be safe, I wanted to make sure the cars had completely stopped, as I worried a car would run the yellow. As a result, I took a bit longer than I should've, and the light turned red. I turned after this, and I realized that maybe I took way too much time than I should've, and my instructor was even urging me to take the turn. I understand that this may have been dangerous, but I was only trying to be cautious during my test.

Aside from that, my instructor said everything else was good. I was definitely very nervous, and my emotions are quite high right now so maybe I'm just an idiot and everything makes perfect sense as to why I failed. Let me know what you guys think about this.
