Orca (1977) production stories?

I was reading about the 1977 movie Orca and Wikipedia mentions in passing that Richard Harris had trouble during production. Something was mentioned about his getting hurt doing his own stunts; he wanted to shoot his wife at one point and was stopped by the director. Animal rights groups chasing down rubber props. This sounds WILD and I need more information.

I can't find anything about it so I was hoping someone here might be able to shed more light.
