Adult swim lessons

Has anyone taken adult swim lessons through Halifax Rec? I'm an adult woman who cannot swim/float at all and I'm very nervous about the idea of signing up for lessons but also would love to be able to at least learn and achieve the basics of swimming. Any recommendations on locations and advice for how the classes progress?
