When/how did you discover the Dead?

I’ll go first: I was in middle school, participating in a church youth group car wash. My best friend was washing cars with me and his dad. Bestie said he had to go in to the church to use the bathroom.

My boy walked right through to the other side of the church, got picked up by friends, and drove 3 hours to a show up in DC. No one had any idea what was going on except his dad - who said nothing, but finished the car wash with smoke pouring out of his ears.

That was the moment I knew that the Dead was something special.
