Have the chassis specifications for PCI changed recently or GPU producers started to ignore them?
Typical PC cases used to have a clearance of ≈ 9 mm above the expansion slot bracket top end, in this picture you can see a typical example
Now many retail GPUs have heatsinks that exceed this size, making impossible to close the side panel of the case unless it has significantly more clearance, a problem even exacerbated by the fact that they often also have the molex connector in the top, forcing you to use angled adapters like these
All this makes hard to find consumer GPUs for compact builds, even if these aren't strictly designed for low profile GPUs (a label that nowadays seems also improperly used for some GPUs that are some sort of hybrid with low profile board but full size slot bracket).
Curiously, this problem doesn't seem common on professional GPUs like the RTX Quadro and AMD Radeon Pro, that seem to respect the "traditional" height limit, contrarily to most consumer grade series as GeForce and Radeon that have all kinds of fancy heatsinks configurations.
So, the question: Have the PCI chassis specifications changed recently, or GPU producers started to ignore them?
