Low mileage 2010 Escape Limited. No problems, sell or keep?

I'm beginning to plan for the future, and expect to be carless in 10 years due to old age. It sucks to think about it, but I see a lot of seniors 85 plus who probably think they are still good drivers and I shudder to think my skills might deteriorate to their level.

Anyway, this is not a rant against bad drivers, but about whether I should plan to keep my 15 year old Escape for another 10+/- years, or upgrade now. To sell or trade in would bother me because the Escape to me is equal value to much newer similar vehicles with 3x the mileage, and I'd be lucky to get half the price for it.

It only has 61,000 km on it, no current problems, exterior and interior almost mint, has been kept garaged the whole time, and has not been the daily vehicle for errands, etc., as we have an '04 Toyota RAV4 that we have used for most everyday runs.

My wife is a bit shorter than me, and prefers the RAV4 for front corner visibility when driving, and the seating position in the RAV4 is more comfortable for her. Regardless, we'll probably sell the RAV4 and go with a single vehicle.

The Escape has had no accidents, no body damage, no rust. Regular maintenance and oil changes, a couple of recalls. Still have original Michelin all season tires, will replace tires this year if we keep her, probably $1,000 Cdn. What other major repairs might I be looking at before it hits 120,000 km, or 80,000 miles ?

To me, if we were to go car free within 5 years, no question, we would keep the Escape, but is it reasonable to keep it for 10, assuming 5,000 km of driving per year? We don't do many road trips of late, certainly none over 1,500 km round trip. My main concern is the changes in automobile technology might overwhelm me if I were forced to change vehicles 5 years from now. I might just be able to accommodate myself to a major change in auto tech today, but maybe not so easy for me in 5 years.

If I were to upgrade my vehicle today, I was thinking of a low mileage Escape Hybrid under 6 years old. Would this be a better choice? I look forward to comments and maybe alternative recommendations from the group.
