Christmas with Ferrets???

So this will be our first year with Noodle friends at Christmas. How should I expect this to work? Or should I just tell my kids we are forgoing a Christmas tree and not put gifts out until Christmas morning? EDIT: Our 4 ferrets typically have the run of the house all day and are not in their cage at night to sleep.
