Shockingly, I Have a Few Potentially Positive Things to Say About the Current Administration
I am critical of many actions taken by the current administration and believe Trump’s lies and crimes should not be excused. That said, there are a few areas where I see potential benefits—though with caution.
✅ Challenging Economic Globalization
The unchecked offshoring of American jobs has harmed workers for decades. While global trade is important, prioritizing American industries and ensuring good-paying jobs remain here is crucial for economic stability and national security.
✅ Tariff Strategy (Cautious Optimism)
Tariffs could encourage domestic job growth, but they must be handled carefully to avoid hurting working-class Americans.
Prices continue to rise with no clear timeline for relief. While I don’t fully trust this administration to manage tariffs responsibly, I hope they ultimately benefit American workers and consumers rather than just corporations.
✅ Addressing Waste in Government
Reducing inefficiency and waste is a valid goal, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of eliminating essential programs that help working-class Americans. Cutting jobs and services without clear evidence of fraud can do more harm than good.
✅ Clarifying Gender Policies in Sports
Fairness in women’s athletics is a necessary discussion. Men and women have biological differences in muscle mass and bone density. Ensuring that competition remains fair while respecting individual rights is important.
🚨 However, concerns about deregulation, such as the potential elimination of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), remain significant.
🚨 The Necessity of Regulation in Capitalism Regulations exist to protect workers, consumers, and the environment from corporate abuse. Without them, history has shown that unchecked capitalism leads to exploitation and economic instability.
❌ Child Labor
Labor laws ended the widespread exploitation of children. In the past, kids worked in dangerous conditions—factories, mines, and textile mills—before regulations protected them.
Now, states like Arkansas are rolling back child labor laws, allowing 14-year-olds to work hazardous jobs with no parental consent. This is a step backward.
❌ Worker Exploitation
Before labor protections, workplace injuries and deaths were common. Enforced overtime and dangerous working conditions were standard before labor laws.
📣 We cannot afford to go back to an era where corporations valued profits over human lives.
❌ Income Inequality & Wage Growth Stagnation
Since 1978, CEO pay has grown over 1,200%, while average worker wages have only grown 15% (adjusted for inflation).
In the 1950s, the CEO-to-worker pay ratio was around 20:1.
Today, that ratio has exploded to over 350:1 in major U.S. companies.
📣 Hardworking Americans deserve fair wages—not a system that benefits only the wealthiest.
❌ Environmental Protections Are Necessary
Regulations prevent industries from polluting our water, air, and food supply. We’ve seen what happens when profit is prioritized over public safety:
Lead contamination in drinking water (Flint, MI crisis).
Oil spills and industrial waste destroying local ecosystems.
Toxic air pollution leading to increased cancer and respiratory diseases.
📣 Regulations don’t exist to stifle business—they exist to protect people from corporate greed.
On Gender Identity & Political Priorities
I support freedom and equality, but why is gender identity a central focus in national politics?
I recently had to take a mandatory gender identity course at work—and while I support people’s right to live as they choose, I don’t believe this belongs in workplace training or as a major political priority. I think it's a distraction and I think it's hurting our agenda.
📣 Let people be who they are. Respect each other. But let’s focus on the core issues that impact all Americans.
Democrats Need to Refocus on Core Issues:
Racial & gender equality
The economy
Affordable healthcare
Education
Worker protections
Corporate accountability
Voting rights
Human rights
Gun safety reforms
Housing affordability
📣 These are the priorities that impact millions of Americans every single day.
Final Thoughts
When evaluating policies and political rhetoric, it’s important to: ✅ Ensure the economy benefits the majority—not just the wealthy. ✅ Recognize the role of regulations in preventing exploitation and environmental harm. ✅ Understand that government exists to protect citizens from chaos and safeguard the vulnerable from corporate and political abuse.
📣 It is essential to police corporate overreach and ensure equitable opportunities for all
