Hey gang I wanna apologize.
Earlier today I made a post that I initially thought was funny. It was making a play on words of Brennan’s “Let me be clear,” and it substituted the word clear for queer.
I myself am genderqueer and found it funny and thought of it in the context of Brennan saying it, then turning to the camera, winking, and saying “Happy Pride gang.”
On top of that, someone commented and pointed out the fact that since Brennan isn’t queer, it would probably be in poor taste and I responded poorly. I’ve had a pretty awful day today and I accused them of blowing it out of proportion when I was the only responding to them disproportionately. That by no means is an excuse though, and they initially responded in a way that wasn’t even that bad and I was a dick.
I don’t know if you’ll see this since you (rightfully) blocked me, (removed), but I am genuinely sorry to you and anyone else in the LGBTQ community who I might’ve made uncomfortable. I feel awful, and even though I’ve deleted the post, I need to take accountability for my actions online.
Sorry for missing the mark by a wide margin here folks. I’ll reflect and find ways to manage my own stress better so I don’t take it out on someone undeserving again.
Love you guys and I love this community.
Edit: Removed the name of the person as some people are criticizing them in the replies and that’s not even remotely the point. Thank you to everyone who is being kind to me, but understand that even if you don’t like what they said, I was certainly the one who escalated first and it’s likely this conversation would not have happened had I not made a poor decision. I’m not trying to beat myself up. I think we should all point to examples of missing the mark and learn how we can improve and that applies to the things we personally say as well.
