1 year of exclusive delta had to fly United
This week, during a Texas trip, I had to fly from Dallas to Houston on one leg. On the second leg, I had to fly out of Houston, and there wasn't a direct Delta flight to Boston. My business travel advisor strongly recommended that I take the direct United flight instead of making a connection to Atlanta in Delta. A few observations after a year of flying exclusive Delta.
Cons
United has no seat-back entertainment system; you watch on your phone. Useless IMO
United's internet speed was painfully slow.
United's first class was comfy, and the food was good, but my outlet for charging my laptop wasn't working, so my laptop died halfway through the flight. I can rant about Dell laptops in another thread.
I had no status with United and no way to get into the lounge with an Amex. (I could be wrong on this, I didn't even attempt it). Not their fault.
Pros
United's baggage claim was staggeringly faster than Delta. Got off the plane to bags waiting for us. Boston Delta can be up to 30 -45 minutes after arriving for bags to come.
The Zone 1 and Zone 2 boarding lines make the boarding process more efficient. People on United seem to want to stand in line 30 minutes before a flight, I have no idea why. Delta seems to be a free-for-all that encourages gate lice to crowd the front.
Just some observations. Realizing I'm traveling way too much to care this much.
