Tinfoil hat theory: survivor bots, 2v8, The Houndmaster, and Ormond are all leading to a The Thing chapter

I think The Thing could be coming as early as 2025. It's a beloved horror franchise and many people's favorite, including mine, so please join me in indulging with speculation about it!

There has been a lot of speculation recently about the new Ormond map and how peculiar it is that it be tested now, considering it doesn't fit The Houndmaster's flavor. There's also been speculation that it possibly is in preparation for a The Thing map in the Ormond realm.

I think that a lot of the game infrastructure added in the past year or so has really primed Behavior to finally tackle The Thing. Here's why:

Survivor bots and 2v8: This oft-requested feature is finally a reality in the game. How could it relate to The Thing? Well, for the longest time the killer has been written off as impossible because imitating players is not really a possibility in this game. But now that survivor bots exist, it's possible that a workaround exists where there would be bot survivors roaming around the map that can be infected and impersonated by the killer instead of players. It would be unsettling and replicate the fear and suspicion from the movie. Similarly, I think a byproduct of the 2v8 mode was serving as a stress test for 8 survivors existing on maps.

The Houndmaster and Ormond: This part is admittedly a stretch, but with first The Dark Lord and now The Houndmaster we have solid canine models in the game, and a possible twist for The Thing's killer might be imitating the malamute dog from the film. The new Ormond map, as others have said, contains many assets and similarities to a possible Antarctic base that could be used in the future.

Finally, and what gives me the most hope, is that the The Thing video game remaster was announced for 2024. That tells us that the license holders for the film were specifically working with video game developers which leaves the door wide open for Behavior.
