I got AgentTesla from a pirate software

Hey all, first post here.

Yesterday I tried to download a pirated software from a video in Youtube. The video had thousands of views and comments, and I presumed it was safe.

When I clicked the .exe, a process was installed on my computer, called "DriverAudio.exe", it turns out it was an AgentTesla virus.

Also, my Visual Studio Code opened up a javascript code called Driver.js that I have no idea what it did/was going to do.

I have read that this kind of virus runs the JS as a VBS file. Since I had Visual Code to open my JS files as default, maybe the code didn't run? It did not even deleted itself, it stayed there on the folder.

Nonetheless, after that I still stayed connected searching about the virus for about 20 minutes, than I ran Bitdefender, which removed the virus and the process DriverAudio.exe. After that, I disconnected the computer, did a backup of my files and formatted it.

Questions:

  • Am I safe now with a fresh install? I already ran malwarebytes to make sure, and apparently I'm safe
  • Is there any chance the hacker got my stuff already? I changed all my passwords after the clean install, just to be sure.. but still I don't like to think of the possibility of having my desktop prints on another person computer lol
  • I would really appreciate if someone could try to analyze the code on a VM... I can't stand the fact that I fell into a tricky software and got a virus, I've been using the internet for more than 20 years now :( The fact that so many people downloaded on Youtube makes me question if they are bots, or the Youtube profile got hacked and changed the file, something like this...
