How effective are college degrees in fields that you have no background/experience in?
I am a semester away from graduating with a double major in Education and Science. I just have student teaching left. I was talking to my mom, saying that if I don’t like education, I’ll just get a job elsewhere.
She said that I don’t have an understanding of the current job market, and that I can’t just get any job with my degree. I told her that I was thinking something like an office job, if I don’t like education. She said that I probably wouldn’t be able to do that.
Most of my background is in education too, between working summer camps and professional tutoring jobs.
Not really sure if I’m SoL if I hate student teaching. Coming here for advice on y’all’s experience, if y’all are currently working (or looking for work) outside of y’all’s degree.
