I’m Prepared to be Hated for This…

…but I got HoJ tonight on my fifth ever run. Rolled against a warrior, rogue, and hunter in a group I put together knowing I’d never have a chance at HoJ or SGC but being an enh shaman I’m a “meme” so if I don’t put together my own runs then I don’t get a group. And then it dropped and I won with a 64.

I will say this—I try really hard not just to be good at my class, which is so much more than DPS. As a shaman in classic totem placement alone is half the battle of the class. Not being able to pick up or redo all four at once or at least with no GCD would sure be nice. But I do my best to interrupt what needs it, cleanse what my healer can’t, and I know how to drop the right totems and keep them in range. I pay attention to my healer’s aggro / their mana so I can throw a heal when it’s needed. I feel like these things alone make me a shaman 90% of people would love to group with.

But regarding gear luck, I have it. I also won the princess ring in Mara the first time I ever saw it, rolled against two warriors; actually got her 2H mace and then the buckler for my resto set all that same night. Hell, I got all 4 Herod pieces in one night and only had to buy one piece to get the full SM set.

I’d like to think that it’s because I try to be a really good human in game. When I won the ring I stayed and kept doing princess runs with the other two warriors for the rest of the night. I don’t freak out at people ever. I try to be a good person to other people in the game the same way I try to be a good human to other humans irl. I don’t let anonymity turn me into an asshole. So I think it’s karma.

Either way, I am 15 runs deep on the SGC farm and another person in my guild is at 80 so we’ll see what happens and if my luck continues. I will say I did see Gorosh on my third run (only time I have seen him so far) and I got his legs which were a massive upgrade, so at least for that!
