Can 2D chess puzzles enhance OTB chess?

I always had this philosophy that the best way to improve OTB is to solve puzzles from my chess books on a chess board. However it takes a lot of time to put the pieces on the board. This is not a problem when I want to think for a puzzle for 10 minutes but it annoys me when I'm trying to solve easier 1 minute puzzles(for improving pattern recognition). Do you think it's a good idea to solve the hard puzzles on a physical board and easy puzzles on the book? Will it still improve my OTB pattern recognition?

Any answer specially from a titled player will be very appreciated!
