Purge Masks (a movement)

Reddit doesn't have a culture of selfies. Most of us want to remain "anonymous," yet, as chaos magicians, we are paradoxically not anonymous (not named), but rather autonomous (self named).

We are all unique individuals.

I have made callouts for more art before, and a desire to see emergent personalities in the "culture" of this subreddit in particular. Its not that it isn't there. Characters like Unkle Guido and many of the artists that post often such as polecatking have easily recognizable styles. I always know a polecatking post when i see it. So this maybe doesn't apply to them. They are established characters.

The point I'm getting to, is masks, to hide your identities, so that you might be less afraid to post photos or make tutorials or.... be one of those mangaka or EDM artists who's always wearing some kind of helmet, but I've got a little more preamble first.

Masks are very magical. In mythology most magical masks literally make you shapeshift. In real "shamanic practices" all over the world the mask of the dancer in a religious ceremony is considered to be literally the deity in question while in the mask. People think you use masks to become a different person, but the actual truth is that, much like in the book "Lord of the Flies" it is the mask that allows you to become your true self.

Like Batman.... I'm sorry everyone, but the Monologue at the end of "Kill Bill" is wrong, because Superman *IS* Clark Kent, "Superman" is the fake character that Clark is trying to be. But BATMAN??? *IS* Batman. Bruce Wayne is the "fake guy" that Batman pretends to be to achieve his goals. The Mask allows Bruce to become his True-self which is Batman (at least this is how I understand the psychology of batman, because batman is fucked up).

OK. Ok. ok. sorry. The point is "Purge Masks"... because we are not "Anonymous"

Anonymous all wear the same mask, that horrible Guy Fawkes from V for Vendetta mask which is such a meme now. But as I mentioned, we are not Anonymous, we are Autonomous Chaos Magicians.

The solution is "Purge Masks." Ever seen those movies, "The Purge"? Everyone has a unique mask to be their own unique horror-movie-murderer on national murder-eachother night, and this is what I think we should strive for.

Now, I know, I know, Not all of you are super artists. I always hear that when I propose these kinds of things. I'm not saying you cant buy a mask, but you had better alter that mask in some way to make it unique from the millions of other self-same masks that came out of that injection mold. New Paint job, Glue some extra bits and bobs on it, or whatever.

Also acceptable are extreme makeup jobs and or full facepaints, and/or Vtuber style animated avatars. Because I never said your mask couldn't be painted on your flesh or digitally projected. I just want to see "faces" that I can correlate with personalities. I mean, technically you could be some kind of Wig/Big Sunglasses/Fake Moustache situation if that's your character. Whatever comfort level of disguise suits you.

For those of you that are interested in making a mask by hand from scratch, A lot lot of people are into 3d printing as a hobby these days, and you could probably design something and have it printed quite easily. There are also various thermoplastics and other materials that cosplayers use such as Worbla or ABS to make their masks or armor pieces.

And if you really want to get messy, there's always good ole' Paper Mache.
