Fat Malabsorption & Ketosis

TLDR - Is it possible to do Lion diet keto if you suspect fat malabsorption issues? Can Lion diet keto help or hurt fat malabsorption issues?

Hi all, I’ve been on the Lion diet for 4 years now and it saved my life. Severe decade-long anxiety/depression and insomnia gone and now I’m able to enjoy life with my amazing wife and kids. I thank God every day for leading me to this diet.

I was very strict for first couple of years, but struggled slightly in 2024 as I had more cheat days than I should have because of good life events. In 2025, my goal is to have zero cheat days, period and so far I’ve had no cheats since 11/30/2024. For most of my life, I’ve dealt with daily diarrhea no matter how I eat. Lion did not resolve this but I didn’t care because my mental illness was in remission, but now I’d like to focus on my gut issues.

This week I decided to up my fat intake by eating two teaspoons of tallow before each meal (steaks and chuck roasts) and, when I had my first BM after that, I quickly realized that “oh yeah, I have major trouble with digesting fats”. My functional doc is going to do some more testing for me but I’m curious if anyone here has improved their fat malabsorption issues with regular carnivore and/or high fat carnivore?
