“GST” on Littering!

Before you start hating, hear me out.

I am all for voicing against middle class being burdened by GST on everything with very slow/no visible development in return.

But littering and civic sense needs serious reform here. Not only are we seeing it in front of our eyes and not taking any action, but literally any reel of india shared on the global stage has a touch of disgust on the poor hygiene.

Since MoF/Nirmala Sitharaman is already in a momentum to tax us out of everything, if she introduces “GST on littering”, or penalty if you hate the word GST, I think visible results will be seen in public cleanliness. Simple warnings haven’t worked in all these years as warnings aren’t enough to some people who simply dont care about their surroundings (i dont blame all because there are some disruptors in this area whom I appreciate)

I can see some railway stations already implementing this with posters saying “penalty for spitting” but the problem is with strict enforcement. I think an app like the namma bengaluru public eye for traffic violations can used as a reference to build proof of concept.

Edit: Many comments saying GST is only for goods and services not people. Get it. Thats why had GST in double quotes.
