Does anyone else struggle to remember all the current cats?

I remember back when I was a kid, reading the first series and I could remember who's who, at least in Thunderclan. The characters were more memorable I think. Nowadays, a cat like Eaglewing shows up in a book and I'm like "Who are you? Where did you come from? Have you always been in Thunderclan?" I think we need a mass extinction event to downsize the clans a bit and give background characters more screen time.
