Is this normal?

Hello everyone I am seeking some input/advice here. I understand this is also a question to ask my doctor but am curious if anyone else experiences this.

I have been in a severe flare up for over 2 years. Earlier this year (around april?) we got it under control with a steroid taper and Rowasa (my insurance finally covered the med). I continue to take mesalamine as a maintenance drug daily. Unfortunately for the past few months I have been off and on the Rowasa (which I only take during flares). I finally completed a longer course of it and was fine for about a month. Normal BMs, only one a day. Randomly a day ago I had a solid BM with what I thought was blood in it….? But all the BMs I’ve had following have been normal. Does anyone else just randomly have a bloody BM out of no where then goes back to normal? Is this a normal part of this disease? Does this constitute calling my MD and scheduling an appointment?
