BEWARE OF SCAMMERS
I almost got scammed today. I got a call from what appeared to be from USAA (the USAA name showed up on the screen and their phone number > 210 531 8722. I figured it was legit and I answered. Supposedly there was a fraud alert from California. I followed through with the steps he gave me but I became more suspicious, however, everything so far seemed pretty legit. The text that he ended up sending was from the USAA numbers that I had received texts from in the past, so I assumed all was well. It wasn't until the person was asking for a code that I decided to end the call. The text he sent said not to share the code, but he was asking for it. To keep it short, I ended the call, called USAA and it turned out it was a scam. I ended up changing my User ID, Password, and Pin and I should be fine now. That was probably the most legit scam I have seen so far. They were able to clone the actual USAA phone number and everything. I will say that I did have a hard time understanding what the person was saying, so maybe that should had been red flag #1
A piece of advice I received from an actual USAA agent, USAA won't ask you to ask for login information, such as a one-time code. And when it comes to fraud (please correct me with this if I'm wrong), you will not be sent a text code for any reason whatsoever, even if you are on the phone with them. Stay safe!
