People that support tariffs on Canada don’t understand math

From a Canadian perspective all Trump supporters (really only talking about the ones who support tariffs on canada and mexico) are either lying or accept the lies being told to them. There is no rational argument for placing tariffs on Canada.

The main arguments you hear are

The US has a trade deficits with canada: Obviously this would happen, a country of 40 million cant purchase the same amount of goods as a country with 330 million. I wish Canadians were that rich but we aren’t. So because we are smaller we buy less.

Weak border leading to fentanyl trafficking: less than 1% of fentanyl being trafficked into the states is through the Canadian border.

Helps Americans: prices will go up for americans, same with canadians, especially if canadians place tariffs themselves.

None of these reason really make any sense. Willing to hear other arguments.
