Male characters who are taking their daily servings of "respect women" juice.

  1. Gomez Addams - The Addams Family. The GOAT. Absolute peak partner material. Honestly a genuine candidate for the best and most supportive husband in all of TV and film history. This man adores and cherishes his wife like no-one else.

  2. Sokka - Avatar: The Last Airbender. Yes, he starts off with blatantly sexist views, but he's a teenager raised in a culture which has the men filling the warrior role. When a woman kicks his ass for the very first time, he doesn't sulk or become an incel. He sincerely apologizes for patronizing her and humbly requests that she teach him, acknowledging that he should have seen her as a fellow warrior. Sokka was ahead of his time with how quickly he changed his views on gender roles when confronted with new information.

3 Félix Madrigal - Encanto. He was clearly taking a leaf out of Gomez's book, and it's sweet to see how much he loves his wife. In their opening duet from "We Don't Talk About Bruno", Pepa laments that they were "married in a hurricane", but Félix happily adds, "What a joyous day!" To him, it didn't matter that there was a natural disaster happening, because he was marrying the love of his life.

  1. Shan Yu - Disney's Mulan. Possibly a controversial opinion, and acknowledging the ugly elephant in the room, it's safe to say women would have likely had a pretty miserable time of it in the places he invaded. But there's no denying that he is one of very few male characters not to treat Mulan differently because of her gender. When she reveals that she was the one who caused the avalanche that destroyed his army, what does he gasp? "The soldier from the mountains". Not, "But... you're just a GIRL!!" To Shan Yu, her gender was irrelevant - he didn't see a woman, he saw a fellow soldier. Of course, he immediately tried to kill her, but that's exactly what he would have done if she'd been a man.
