Appreciating Stormfronts Costume

The show makes sure we see her old values subtlety & while she tries to be this counter culture bad bitch she like many irl influencer push for more conservative values under this progressive guise of “laugh at the wannabe SJWs.” She talks about how both men & women in the work place in it together, yet when Starlight is mouth raped she basically laughs at her saying she should have fought back. We see the strong misogyny within her & while she can wrap herself in pretty plastic, she can’t & won’t unlearn her BS. In the 1940s-1950s we indeed see that women who were in the workplace were coerced & were assaulted & blamed just like how Stormfront blamed Starlight because the form of victim blaming resonates with many people today. But back then, nobody really cared for coercion being rape as they thought no self respecting woman would “allow” a man to “defile” her.

She even credits all & who she is to her husband Fredrick.

She shits on Starlights costume & how Starlight “let” Vought objectify her, furthering how in Stormfronts time women were expected to be both passive yet assertive surrounding their “virtue” & not “let” someone abuse them in any way especially when it came to their sexuality because sexual abuse is reflective more of the victim rather than the aggressor. Yet, Stormfront herself DOES wear an objectifying costume. In the context of her times the waistline was considered the most feminine/delicate part of a woman, something her outfit accentuates. The bullet bra was considered sexy for women for its pointed perky shape, which we also see in her costume, or more so an implication of the shape. The red parts of her outfit as well makes an illusion of a thinner body mimicking the silhouette of women from the 40s-50s (see any vintage poster art like a fashion design for example) & she has a plunging v neck straight down to her tits. Her heels actually resemble the ones of the past too, specifically the kind seen on “alluring” ladies. They’re clunkier allusions of the popular pump heels of the 1940s. We also see her belt though taking in a modern “update” like her shoes still resemble her tastes haven’t changed as these were used to further emphasize the waist.

It may not be as obvious to us as the modern audience, which is why I love her costuming. Maeve & Starlights costumes are more apparent in their “sexiness” because we are all familiar with the pushed up boobs, emphasis on legs, & curvy figure. Stormfront is a misogynistic character & a hypocrite, something as awful as her being a nazi, but not as noted on because of how it displays itself as a hint rather than full on manifestations like the whole “army of aryans” shit.
