Strinova is the hardest game I've ever played to rise in the ranks of ranked. It is brutal on bad/average/even above average people. I don't think the game is hard - the scoring system is very penalizing.
As of writing this thread, I have 347 ranked matches. 187 wins, 160 losses. I like to think this is pretty decent. This is a 55% win rate which I consider to be very good. However, in Strinova, if you're not a star player, it doesn't give you many points.
Example: In CS2 and League of Legends, a 55% win rate took me to Legendary Eagle (CS2) and Emerald (League of Legends, the rank close to Diamond). In Yugioh, my 55% win rate put me in Diamond.
I am above average in every game I play, but the way scoring works in Strinova, the way I play games just doesn't cut it. I started in Substance 3, now I'm in Atom 4, and I cannot leave Atom 4, no matter how good I play or how many matches I win. I always lose more points on losses than I gain on my wins.
To elaborate, I am not the type of person to be a 'star player' which is all Strinova is really interested in. My knowledge in games comes first while my mechanics come 2nd. My brain is in 1st place while my mechanics are in 2nd place. There is nothing wrong with this. However, in Strinova, I am hard stuck silver with a very good win rate. This win rate would put you in high emerald or low diamond in literally any other competitive game.
The scoring system is brutal, even for above average players with above average knowledge. I realize the devs won't change the system based on my feedback, and I can tell they are really going for a merit based elo system. The merit system is failing me and many other players.
I often think to myself, if I'm struggling with a 55% win rate, how are the worse/average players even functioning? I feel like this system really only benefits the top 400 players on the leaderboard who are clearly, without a shadow of a doubt, better than everyone.
TL;DR - The merit based ranked point system makes my 55% win rate look bad. I know 55% would be good in any other game, but in Strinova it's just brutal and my elo isn't going up since im not playing to their 'hidden metric system'
