Spawn: Comic vs Animation

Hello guys, Spawn have been part of my life since I was a child mainly because a cousin read the comic and another cousin gave me his super nintendo with Spawn’s game (really good and very hard game by the way). Then when I was a teenager I watched the HBO animation, it was really great but also really explicit, Billy Kincaid left me disturbed. Now as an adult, some weeks ago I finally started to read the comic and I really like it but I was expecting that it would be more explicit as the animation was, and in some points it is for example in the comic Billy Kincaid received what I expect Spawn would do to that kind of persons, on the opposite, in the animation Spawn just handed him over to the police. But in general I think the HBO animation felt more for adults (you know the tone, nudes, suggestive topics) and for the comic I think this tone is not happening (I would like to know if I’m wrong, I’m currently on issue 34). If we use gaming ratings I would say that comic (at least to issue 33) could be M and maybe the animation could be AO. I actually expected that the comic would be at least at the same tone as the animation. Not a complaining or anything, just an expectation. With that said I plan to continue reading it. I would like to know your thoughts? Thanks
