[Product question] Has anyone ever suddenly developed an allergic reaction to Cerave?
Hi all! I'm posting here because for the last month I've experienced a moderate but extremely bothersome allergic reaction to the Cerave foaming facial cleanser. I picked up a bottle of it because I found that my old cleanser (Clean & Clear - I know lol, I've used it since high school) wasn't adequately cleansing my skin, as I've been working in food service obviously with a mask on since about June and was having a problem with blackheads and closed comedones. I bought the Cerave foaming cleanser because I've been using the moisturing lotion for about a year now with no problems.
The reaction started out almost immediately as bumps on the top of my cheekbones, as well as a REALLY itchy rash on the left side of my jaw and on my neck. I stopped using the face wash for a few days but then for some reason decided to go back to it, and over the next week my entire face became unbearably itchy and about halfway covered in these tiny bumps, and some of the bumpy areas turned a bright red. The worst part is that I also developed eyelid eczema which seems to be worsening (or at least not improving).
The weirdest part of all this is that I now seem to have developed a sensitivity to all Cerave products. I bought the moisturizing cream to try and hydrate my eyes, which were actually peeling a few nights ago, and that seemed to make everything worse. Now I'm only using the Vanicream gentle moisturizer, my old face wash, and Aquaphor, and I think everything is beginning to chill out.
I'm wondering if anyone else has developed an allergy/sensitivity to Cerave seemingly out of nowhere? I checked the foaming cleanser and the only ingredient that really stuck out to me was the niaminicide.
NEARLY 3 YEAR LATE UPDATE: Hi everyone! So I'm still using that same face wash, along with the Cerave regular lotion, the FAB retinol and the FAB sunscreen. For some reason that specific moisturizer is fine for me. However, I've discovered sensitivities/allergies to the FAB ultra moisturizing cream; the snail mucin that was very popular a year or so ago; and a couple of other products I'd be happy to list. Vanicream seems to be a good safe product for anyone who's having a reactive episode. Good luck!
