Would Billy still have killed Maureen Prescott and become a serial killer had Roman not approached him?

Let's say Roman had never shown him pictures of Maureen hooking up with Billy's father and manipulating him into killing her. Had Billy found about their affair himself, would he still be driven into killing her and becoming Ghostface?
