I don't think The animation is actually the problem.

Now, I'm on record saying that I think the animation is solid. It's nothing groundbreaking, but it's above average. But that's not really what this post is about.

More so, I don't think the animation is the reason why so many are disappointed. It's the direction.

In terms of just animation and movement, episode 5 really wasn't that bad. It was the quick cuts and lack of dynamic angles that made the whole thing feel off. But that isn't really an animation thing, the direction is just...lackluster.

Now I don't think that's a deal breaker, I've still enjoyed every episode. But I do think it's strange that people complain so much about the animation, when I really don't think that's the problem that they actually have. Rather, I think people just underestimate how important good directing is for anime.
