This scenario from a client?

My three furkids (cat 5M, F4, M2) and I live in South East Asia. I’m Australian and of course, when I go home, my cats will be coming with me.

The tricky thing is Australian biosecurity laws. They were updated last year to mean the cats need to spend 180 days in an “approved” country like the UK or the US. I’ve always planned just to temporarily move to one of those countries, get an Airbnb and treat it like an extended holiday for the cats and I.

However, I wonder if anyone on Rover has ever sat cats in their own home for 6 months or more? Is it a viable option for me to investigate?

I have some other questions: - If you’re a sitter, how would you feel about not being able to do an in person chemistry check (I suppose it would have to be online)?

  • Would it be a cause for concern that the cats would be flying in from another country? (Regardless of how we get back to Australia, I’ll fly with the cats on all journeys.)

  • What other things would you worry about as the sitter?

Thanks in advance for your advice and honesty. I welcome brutal honesty. I want to be able to plan as best as I can for my cats.
