I’m frustrated with The Harem Project ending

I loved the first few books of The Harem Project series by Crea Reitan. They were focused on a poly romance with unique and interesting concept. They had some darker elements from outside forces but that wasn’t a focus. The books were on the sweet side of romances. I also really appreciate her representation of poly families and how each family was different.

The last books were dark and barely any romances. I skimmed the last two because the bad guys did some disgusting, horrific things. The series started as sweet romance and ended as dark fantasy with a romance subplot. The last books focused of their fight with the villains. I don’t think any of the characters got a true happy ending at the end of the series.

Authors can write whatever they want and I respect that. However, I feel lied to about what this series was going to be. I know she didn’t know that was what she was going to do from the start but I wouldn’t have started if I had known. I wish I had gotten a warning or something beforehand. So here’s to anyone wanting to read it, I think the author made her villains to evil for a romance book and to address that the series had a MAJOR tone and focus change. I would read the first 6 and stop.
